Ontario online gamblers could only place bets with a single or Individual regulated iGaming site – lottery specific OLG.ca – until two weeks ago. Since yesterday, they have officially 16 to choose from, and that number could soon double.

This would mean that the province has a wide range of brands like New Jersey, America’s most crowded market. the garden condition is often a must-test state for online casino and sportsbook operators entering the US market.

Ontario may even end up surpassing all US online casino states, in terms of the volume of legal operators.

Ontario Regulator Adds 3 Operators After Launch Day

April 4 marked the official launch of the province’s expanded iGaming marketplace. Before that, only Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) offered legal iGaming.

Since, 29 operators have joined OLG on the list of operators approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

More than half of these companies have already signed operating agreements with iGaming Ontario (iGO) had launched. 13 operators entered the market from day one, then of them others were posted online last week.

A major force in the market will be Isle of man– Headquartered hear. It forms half of BetMGM joint venture, with Vegas-based MGM Resorts International. He also launched his own Bwin and To party brands last week, and may end up bringing its newest acquisition, Sports interactions to the market, although he initially said he would not.

About a dozen other brands have AGCO approval but no operating agreement yet. Meanwhile, AGCO has added three new ones to the roster since launch day.

On April 19, AGCO approved Betway’s inquiry eight Online gambling URLs, representing everything from online casino to in-game sports betting.

They are:

  • betway.ca
  • betway.ca/casino
  • betway.ca/live-casino
  • betway.ca/sports
  • betway.ca/sports/cat/esports
  • betway.ca/sports/chat/virtual-sports
  • betway.ca/sports/in-play
  • betway.ca/vegas

Betway is a well-known online sports betting brand in Europe, but was relatively unknown in North America until its owner announced in September 2021 his intention to expand.

Since April 13, the Guernsey-based Super Group (SGHC) announcement Betway Casino lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and he was also making progress in online sports betting.

Betway Sports had already launched in:

  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • New Jersey
  • Pennsylvania

SGHC said Betway has market access a dozen US states via Florida-based Digital Gaming Company (DGC). SGHC is expected to acquire DGC in the “second half of this year”.

Access to Marketplace without Betway Live Apps includes:

  • Kansas
  • Louisiana
  • Missouri
  • Mississippi
  • Ohio

Of these five states, only Louisiana’s online sports betting market is online. Mississippi only allows these bets in retail casinos.

It should be noted that SGHC also owns an online casino operator twirl, which he seems to be using for Ontario Application store. The, Apple users will see Betway titles as Spin Sports. android users will see Betway, according to AGCO.

In addition, AGCO has issued Betway approvals for Alderney-based Cadway Limitedownership of which SGHC declared in its January 27 report to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). SGHG called Cadway a “not yet operational” gaming operator.

This SEC document related to the IPO of the SGHC. Yesterday, SGHC stock was trading at $9.60, since its launch on January 28 at $8.25.

North Star

On April 13, AGCO approved Toronto-based NorthStar Game offer iGaming under the brand North Star. The NorthStarBets.ca URL was not yet live yesterday, but was accepting entries.

The site said Paris NorthStar would launch the online casino and sportsbook as soon as it reached an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario (iGO).

An April 14 press release on AGCO’s approval called the launch of NorthStar Bets “imminent”, but the operator was not on iGO’s list yesterday.

NorthStars Bets is a subsidiary of a Canadian media company Torstar, which owns several important newspapers including the Toronto Star. It has been posting “partner content” sports betting tips from NorthStar Bets for months.

Once the app is launched, it will be NorthStar’s debut as an online gambling operator.

Playtech’s January 11 announcement indicates that NorthStar Gaming will be its exclusive media and publishing partner:

“Following the completion of regulatory approvals and the licensing process, NorthStar Gaming will be ready to launch Playtech’s IMS platform, casino, live casino, poker and bingo software to the Canadian public.”

CEO and Co-Founder of NorthStar Gaming Michael Moskowitz said in the April 14 announcement that the operator has the advantage of being relevant to Ontarians:

“As a local operator, the opportunity for us to design, build and launch a platform for our home market is very special. We are proud to call Ontario home and look forward to showcasing our rich platform in content to consumers.

AGCO approved Buddybet Malta April 5. Do business as Buddybetthis app doesn’t seem to be looking for a favorite status.

One of its first advertisements showed men playing tug of war with a giant gingerbread cookie.

As the site describes the operator:

“Social betting is a game played primarily for fun, validation, or socialization.”

Friends can bet against each other on music, movies, “royal family” or even sports.

Like Katie John written on April 11 for online poker report, Buddybet isn’t the only obscure betting site to join the fray in Ontario. It’s perhaps the most colorful, though.
